
This year the Midtown Development Corporation
led the fight to save the state tax credits
for restoring historic properties. The Governor
signed HB 759 on May 16, 2002 maintaining
the tax credit through 2004.

As of January 31, 2003, Midtown Development
Corporation has assisted 22 Midtown homeowners
get part 2 approval of their state tax credit
application and 6 get part 3/final approval
of their state tax credit application.

The Midtown Development Corporation is a
hands-on developer. In 2002 we purchased
7 homes in for resale to owner-occupants.
Properties currently under contract include
114
East Eager, 1307 North Calvert and the four
consecutive houses at 1116,1118,1120, and
1122 North Calvert." In 2003, we plan
to place even more homes in the hands of
owner-occupants. Higher owner-occupancy
rates help solve the problems caused by
absentee landlords that have plagued these
neighborhoods for many years.
